Korean beef bowl

Serves: 4

This took me: 35 minutes

Adapted from: https://damndelicious.net/2013/07/07/korean-beef-bowl/

Ingredients

  • Onion (diced) - 1
  • Brown sugar - 0.25 cups
  • Soy sauce - 0.25 cups
  • Sesame oil - 2 tsp
  • Chilli oil/chilli flakes - to taste
  • Ground ginger - 0.25 tsp
  • Garlic - 3 cloves
  • Vegetable oil (or another flavourless oil)
  • Minced beef/turkey/pork/whatever meat you like - 500 g
  • Cooked rice

Steps

  1. Fry the diced onion in a wok with oil at medium heat until lightly browned. While this is cooking, stir the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, chilli oil/chilli flakes and ground ginger together in a small bowl.
  2. Push the onion to the sides of the wok and add the garlic. Cook for a minute while stirring constantly.
  3. Add mince and raised heat to medium-high. Regularly stir until cooked through then drain the excess fat.
  4. Stir the soy sauce mixture in and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Serve with rice.
