Serves: 5

This took me: 55 minutes

Adapted from: https://www.recipetineats.com/spaghetti-bolognese/

Ingredients

  • Olive oil
  • Garlic (minced) - 4 cloves
  • Onion (diced) - 2
  • Minced beef/turkey/pork/whatever meat you like - 500 g
  • Beef bouillon/stock cubes - 2
  • Diced/crushed tomatoes - 400 g
  • Tomato paste - 2 tbsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 2 tsp
  • Dried bay leaves - 2
  • Dried thyme - 0.5 tsp
  • Salt and pepper
  • Spaghetti (cooked) - 400 g
  • Dry red wine - 125 ml (optional)
  • White/brown sugar - 2 tsp (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (to serve) (optional)
  • Parsley (to serve) (optional)

Steps

  1. Fry the onions in olive oil on medium heat until lightly browned.
  2. Add Garlic and cook for 2 minutes before turning the heat up to high and adding the mince. Cook until the mince is browned.
  3. Add the wine, bring it to a simmer, and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add the remaining ingredients except for salt, pepper, spaghetti, parmesan cheese, and parsley. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to medium. Cook for 20-30 minutes without a lid.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve with spaghetti, parmesan cheese, and parsley.
